- Virtual Big Latch
This year, as the usual Big Latch event can’t go ahead in Jersey to celebrate World Breast Feeding Week, due to current restrictions on large events, mums who want to mark the occasion are being offered an alternative.
Instead of meeting up in a large group, mums are instead invited to post a breast-feeding selfie on social media anytime on Saturday 1 August, using the hashtag #VirtualBigLatchJsy2020.
If you can’t take part on 1 August, World Breastfeeding Week runs from 1 – 7 August, so you can upload your selfie any time that week to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. If you want to tag us in, just search “Family Nursing & Home Care” on any social media channel.
World Breastfeeding Week is held to promote breastfeeding and to galvanise support from all sectors to enable women to work and continue to breastfeed safely and adequately. It is promoted by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and in Jersey, by the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) operational group.
