The key accountabilities for this role include:
Professional Leadership
• The post holder will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the guidelines of the NMC and Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice and apply these to maintain trust and credibility with patients, carers and colleagues.
• You will make significant contribution to service direction by demonstrating vision and ability to assist in the direction and leadership of their team in an effective and efficient way.
• You will balance clinical/managerial responsibilities, adopting a management style/structure which proves to be effective in performing both aspects of the role.
• Keeping fully up to date in developments within your own professional discipline and will share clinical knowledge/experience to improve nursing care, acting as a role model and thought leader for professional practice.
• Maintaining a professional portfolio which demonstrates the continuing acquisition of skills, knowledge, attitudes, understanding and achievement.
Nursing Practice
• Demonstrating excellent clinical judgement promoting a culture of holistic patient care through defining, setting and maintaining appropriate clinical standards.
• You will be responsible for demonstrating improvements and innovations in nursing practice brought about by undertaking nursing audits and research and by adopting appropriate evidence-based research findings.
• You will develop, monitor and review key performance indicators for service area.
Team Management, Building and Working
• You will be responsible for building team commitment and coherence. They will build on existing team spirit by demonstrating the ability to inspire, motivate and lead.
• The post holder will ensure that all team members understand the service objectives and their roles and responsibilities in achieving these.
• You will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and will encourage cross boundary working.
Resource Management
• You will work closely with the Divisional Management Team to meet the strategic objectives. This will involve collating, producing and presenting information and reports in a timely and appropriate manner.
• The post holder will be aware of the need to ensure cost effective and efficient use of resources working closely with the Divisional Management Team to achieve cost effective deployment of staff – matching skill mix to service need, engendering flexibility of working practices.
• You will play a key role in recruitment and retention of staff, manage all relevant Human Resource procedures fairly and effectively and develop long term succession planning.
Service and Staff Development
• You will co-ordinate staff development and proactively use the performance review and appraisal system as a means of levering up performance and addressing performance issues and ensure that all staff have up to date personal development plans.
• TYou will undertake competency assessments
• The post holder will develop and participate in training and development plan for individuals, the team and self, matching aspirations and aptitudes with needs of service and ensuring that the plan is in line with training and development strategy.
Risk Management
• The post holder will develop, monitor and review risk management plans for clinical areas, by ensuring team members are aware and comply with Family Nursing and Home Care’s Policies and Procedures, demonstrating evidence of implementing effective change and taking appropriate actions to reduce risk.
• You will contribute to creating effective systems for identifying, recording and analysing patient safety events by promoting a culture of openness, reporting and learning
Safeguarding Children and Adults at risk of abuse
• You will take responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adults and/or families within their care and conduct and must be familiar with the signs and symptoms of abuse and know what to do if any such concerns are raised or are identified. He/she shall be aware of and comply with Family Nursing & Home Care safeguarding and policies and procedures.
