Support for Visitors and New Residents

Visitors to the island or those not yet eligible for free non-emergency healthcare requiring community nursing services i.e. new residents.

To access Community Nursing Services whilst visiting Jersey or as a new resident, a written referral (or a telephone referral for RRRT) from one of the following professionals is required:

  • your doctor / GP
  • any hospital
  • other district/community nursing agencies
  • other health professional not mentioned above

Nursing care can only be provided if the person has registered with a GP in Jersey, or in the case of RRRT a hospital consultant, who will take on medical responsibility.

Further information about registering with a GP in Jersey can be found here www.gov.je/health/doctordentist/doctors/pages/healthcard.aspx

Services available (subject to resource availability):

  • wound care
  • medication via a specialist route, including insulin administration and intravenous antibiotic therapy
  • catheter changes
  • stoma care, including care of gastrostomy tubes
  • reablement

Please note: FNHC is not an emergency service or emergency healthcare provider. In these circumstances please call 999 for the Police or Ambulance.
