Deputy Sister – District Nursing Services

We are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Sister to work as part of the District Nursing team. You will work alongside a Team Leader supporting patients with complex care needs and ensuring staff have the training and competencies to deliver complex care in the community. You will support the Team leader in the provision of professional leadership to a community team making a significant contribution to a specialty service through developing effective leadership skills and sharing clinical knowledge and experience to improve nursing practice and patient safety.

hours: 37.5 pw

salary: Grade 5 - £63, 990 - £68,437 per annum

criteria: Community Nursing experience is essential. You will have a minimum qualification 1st Level Registered Nurse Specialist Practitioner - District Nursing , or willingness to work towards this qualification or similar at Master level study. Car owner essential

Role details

Key Accountabilities:

  • You will support the Team leader to define, set and maintain appropriate clinical standards and will lead in planning the overall organisation of patient care, directing the care team when necessary in the delivery of high quality care programmes within the service area.
  • You will demonstrate enhanced nursing practice and will act as a role model in terms of own care delivery by acquiring knowledge and skills to support an evidence based client centred service supported by the multi-disciplinary team, consistently providing high quality advice to patients/carers/colleagues.
  • The post holder will support the Team leader in auditing the effectiveness of complaints procedure, ensuring complaints are dealt with promptly and effectively, and that investigations are carried out and action taken to inform learning .
  • You will maintain accurate patient documentation and consistently produce high quality patient information using a range of IT skills as appropriate.
  • The post holder will develop competencies required to deliver the range of nursing needs in the community including but not limited to long term condition management , Tissue viability management and end of life care
  • The post holder will be confident and competent in using a range of IT to support safe care.
  • The post holder will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other relevant professionals and disciplines, promoting multi-disciplinary team working
  • You will help to build team commitment, coherence and spirit, and motivate individual and team performance, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other relevant professionals and disciplines, promoting multi-disciplinary team working with junior staff, and leading the multi-disciplinary team as required.
  • You will support induction and promote learning across the organisation developing and supporting staff competencies , supervision and PDP  matching aspirations and aptitudes. with the needs of the service and will ensure that all staff members participate in the Performance Review and Assessment system and have up to date personal development plan

Your career to date will reflect your passion for community nursing. Clinical expertise and competency in managing acute care in the home including end of life care and complex health and care needs is essential.
