Around 100 mums and their babies participated in a public demonstration to show support for breastfeeding in public in June.
‘The Big Latch’, which was organised by FNHC, Jersey Child Care Trust, midwives from the States of Jersey and National Childbirth Trust Jersey, took place at Millbrook Park and was attended by Lady Gene McColl, patron of FNHC.
The event followed a decision by the States of Jersey to protect mothers against discrimination if they choose to breastfeed in public. The event also gave mothers the chance to speak to healthcare professionals about any issues or concerns they might have around breastfeeding.
FNHC is delighted to play a role in raising awareness of mothers’ rights to breastfeed in public, and offer continued support to new mothers. The charity welcomes the States Members vote to protect mothers against discrimination if they choose to breastfeed in public, an important step in the protection of mothers’ rights in Jersey.
